One evening, I had to prepare dinner for the family, and I couldn’t figure out what salad dressing to make with what I had on hand. I asked the Holy Spirit, and He whispered a winning formula to me- vinegar, honey, and a pinch of salt. I was amazed at how tasty this simple combination was.
Another time, I wanted to make baked, fried chicken without using an egg. I again asked the Holy Spirit for an alternative, and He gave me another winning suggestion of ‘buttermilk.’
Three months ago, I felt the unction to learn how to bake sourdough bread, and the Holy Spirit led me to all the information I needed to get started on this new skill. As I’ve grown in sourdough, the Holy Spirit continues expanding my knowledge by giving me ideas on what to try next and how to improve my bakes.
If the Holy Spirit can give ideas and wisdom on topics like food, can you imagine how much insight He has on the more complex matters of life?
The Wind Beneath Your Sails
Dr. Faith Wokoma’s Word for 2023 was about the year of Horsepower. The one portion of this word that stood out most for me touched on ‘innovation,’ which is new ways of doing things.
Reflecting on the former part of 2023, I’ve happily concluded that the Holy Spirit is all the horsepower we need. These memories and countless others have convinced me that the Holy Spirit truly is the believer’s best friend- especially in this hour.
It’s been amazing to discover that the Holy Spirit knows ALL things, and He’s very happy to help when He’s asked and given permission to flow.
Do you need help? Do you need to learn a new skill? Do you need wisdom, revelation, knowledge, insight, and strategy - in parenthood, marriage, education, or business?
Instead of turning to Google as your first source of information, challenge yourself to ask the Holy Spirit FIRST.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you (John 14:26).
Do you need instructions on what to do?
You gave your good Spirit to instruct them. You did not withhold your manna from their mouths, and you gave them water for their thirst. (Nehemiah 9:20 NIV)
Do you need to know which way to go?
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, this is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left (Isaiah 30:21 KJV)
Are you struggling to figure out what is right or wrong?
And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; (John 16:8)
But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. (John 16:13)
Do you struggle to pray?
We pray perfectly when we yield ourselves over to the Holy Spirit. He prays on our behalf with deep moans indicative of intense emotions that cannot be expressed in words.
Likewise, the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (Romans 8:26 KJV)
Are you lacking the strength and capacity to understand a thing?
Do you want to do things great and glorious?
Do you need help restraining corrupt desires?
Do you want the strength to bear trials and troubles?
Likewise, the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities. (Romans 8:26 KJV)
Do you want to know more about God and, therefore do exploits?
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better (Ephesians 1:17 NIV)
Dear believer, refuse to be stranded in this life because you have the Holy Spirit as an ever-present help.
We’re the victorious ones because we have the Holy Spirit.
Invite the Holy Spirit in. Get to experience His friendship and see how He catapults you forward.
The Holy Spirit is all the horsepower we need.
