Have you ever felt like your past disqualifies you from the work you’re called to do? Or maybe you’ve faced an assignment so big and stretching that it seemed impossible? If so, you’re not alone. The truth is, God doesn’t just call us; He equips us. Your past doesn’t limit what He can do through you. You’re meant to walk in purpose, strengthened by Him every step of the way.

It Is God Who Gives Us Strength and Appoints Us for His Purpose
In 1 Timothy 1:12, Paul says, “I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that He considered me trustworthy, appointing me to His service.”
Paul’s words are a powerful reminder that our strength comes from God, not ourselves. It’s easy to think that if we work harder or try harder, we’ll have what we need. But the real source of strength isn’t willpower or talent. It’s the grace and power of God at work in us.
When we feel weak or uncertain, we can rest in the truth that God equips us for the assignments He’s given. You don’t have to do it alone.
We aren’t the ones who appoint ourselves. God is the one who chooses, calls, and equips us for His work. Whether your assignment is big or small, public or private, it is a divine appointment given by Him and for His glory.
Your Past Doesn’t Disqualify You
Paul also shares in 1 Timothy 1:13, “Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief."
Paul’s past didn’t stop God’s plan for his life. Your past doesn’t have to stop yours, either. No matter your past mistakes, God’s mercy is greater. His grace covers you and calls you forward into the purpose He’s set for you.
Stay Focused and Walk In Purpose
Paul’s life is a testimony of what happens when we stay focused on God’s mission. After his encounter with Jesus, Paul continued in the work of the ministry. He didn’t allow his past to stop him. Instead, it was part of his testimony.
I want to encourage us to do the same. No matter our past, if we know we heard God, let us continue on the path He has set before us. Let’s ensure we are committed to living a life of yielded and surrendered devotion.
Let’s stay anchored in God’s word. When those moments of unsureness and overwhelm try to rear their ugly heads, return to the foundation of His Word and remember:
• You are chosen for the assignment.
• His strength equips you.
• You are called to a life that reflects His glory.
Walk Boldly in Your Purpose
Wherever you find yourself today- whether you’re starting fresh, facing challenges, or stepping into something new- remember: you’re not alone. You CAN do this.
God has called you for a purpose bigger than your ability. Lean on Him. Trust His strength. And keep walking boldly in what He’s set before you.
