This Is War

Congratulations on officially completing Week 1of 2024's Let There Be Challenge! As we go through this 40 day journey, I pray we're growing in the understanding of how crucial our words are. Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV) tells us that 'death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.' One main reason I love this challenge is because it's rooted in the Word of God. As we speak our declarations aloud, we’re not just speaking words; we’re speaking life into the atmosphere and our situations.

Whilst reflecting on my decrees from 2023, I felt a strong conviction to repeat them in 2024. You might wonder why. The answer is simple: This year, I’m contending for the Word of the Lord to come to pass. Last year, my declarations were made with a heart of seeking clarity and alignment with God’s promises. This year, there’s an urgency- a sense of expectation. I’m not just hoping for things to change; I’m standing firm in my faith, declaring that His promises as revealed through His Word will be fulfilled.

I've been circling back to Joshua 21:45 (NLT), which says, 'Not a single one of all the good promises the LORD had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything He had spoken came true.' This verse is a powerful reminder that God’s promises are not idle words. They are words with power, and they will come to pass. Whatever I’ve declared, based on the truth of God’s Word, must come to pass.

Our declarations are not mere words. They're our partnership with God’s will, aligning our speech with His truth. This is war and our decrees are our weapons. In Ephesians 6:12, we're reminded that 'our struggle is not against flesh and blood,' and in 2 Corinthians 10:4, we're told that the weapons of our warfare 'are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.'

I challenge you to approach your decrees not just as hopeful wishes but as powerful words of prophecy that will shape your reality. Our declarations are not based on fleeting emotions but on the eternal truths of God's Word. They are the foundation upon which we stand firm in faith, moving forward with intentionality and expectancy.

In 1 Timothy 1:18-20 (NKJV), Paul exhorts Timothy to wage a good warfare through the prophecies spoken over his life. He says, 'This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, having faith and a good conscience…' Just like Timothy, we must hold fast to the prophetic declarations we’ve made, and wage warfare with them.

Just as a soldier stays committed to his mission even when the battle is hard, we must hold on to our faith and keep speaking God's Word- especially when our circumstances haven't yet aligned with His promises. Isn’t that what faith looks like? Hebrews 11:1 tells us, 'Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.' Our faith is the confidence that what God has promised will come to pass, even when we can’t yet see it.

As we continue through these days together, may we do so with unwavering faith, knowing that we're contending for the word of the Lord concerning us to be made manifest. This is the year we will see the fruit of our declarations. This is the year His promises will come to pass in our lives. May God ever strengthen you and fill you with boldness as you speak life, faith, and hope into your future. Together, let’s keep on decreeing and declaring with confidence, knowing that His Word never returns void (Isaiah 55:11)

Blessings and strength to you as you decree and declare!
