Dear Friend,Â
I believe that each of us was created with a unique purpose and identity by a loving and intentional God. However, many of us struggle to embrace who we were meant to be and feel trapped by the expectations of others or the pressures of society. This is how many people forfeit their destiny, and I don't want that to be you this year, so let's go through a few ways to ensure that you are flexible enough to step into who God created you to be.
Accept It
While I understand that you might not want or even agree with your calling, you must accept it because there is no other option for you. God decided everything for you before you clocked into time and while you have the free will to reject His idea of you, it doesn't change the sobering fact that your experiences will always point you back to His original plan. Ultimately, the faster you come to terms with the fact that His plans and purposes will prevail, the faster you'll become who He had in mind.
Stop Comparing
I get it, some people's lives look more glamorous than yours. They may seem to have everything you want and when you find time to look back at your life, you feel discouraged and unmotivated. I get that, but it's unhelpful. No matter how beautiful or favorable someone else's life may look, you'll never have it because it's not yours. Ultimately, it's better to water your own grass rather than hope for lawn of someone else. Don't get caught up in the comparison trap because it will steal 100% of your opportunities.
Seek God's Guidance Through Prayer and Scripture:
In Jeremiah 29:11, God declares, "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Remember, God desires to reveal His purpose and plan for our lives, but we must be willing to seek Him earnestly in prayer and study His Word.
Therefore, I highly recommended to make it a habit to connect with God every day through prayer, seeking His will for your life, and understanding the unique gifts and talents He has given you. It is important to set aside some time for reading Scriptures, reflecting on His promises, and allowing His Word to shape your thoughts and actions. As you strengthen your relationship with God through prayer and study, He will guide you towards self-discovery and help you embrace your true identity in Christ.
Embrace Your God-Given Gifts and Talents:
In 1 Peter 4:10, we are reminded, "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." God has uniquely gifted us for a specific purpose, and He calls us to use our talents to glorify Him and bless others.
Therefore, it is important to take the time to identify and nurture the gifts and talents that you have been given by God. Whether you have a talent for music, teaching, hospitality, or administration, look for opportunities to use your skills to serve others and contribute to the growth of the Christian community. Embrace your talents with excitement and joy, knowing that they are unique to you and can bring fulfillment to your life and those around you.
Surrender to God's Plan and Trust His Timing:
In Proverbs 3:5-6, we are comforted, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." God's timing is perfect, and His plan for our lives far exceeds anything we could imagine. This should bring you a sense of security and peace, knowing that you are in His hands.
As you try to discover and accept your true identity in Christ, it is important to surrender your plans and desires to God, trusting that He knows what is best for you. Be patient and persistent in following His lead, even when the path seems uncertain or challenging. Remember that God is faithful and will fulfill His purpose for your life at the right time, according to His plan.
Your Takeaway:
Essentially, transitioning into who we were created to be is a journey of faith and obedience, guided by God's grace and wisdom. By seeking His guidance through prayer and scripture, embracing our God-given gifts and talents, and surrendering to His plan and timing, we can step into the fullness of our identity in Christ and fulfill the unique purpose for which we were created.Â
I encourage you to move forward with confidence, knowing that God is with us every step of the way, empowering us to become who He has called us to be for His glory and the advancement of His kingdom.
