You Have What You Need, When You Need It

Recently, I found myself in a place where God gave me life-changing instructions, but not many details. Some days, it even felt like He was silent for a while. After getting a flood of prophetic words, insight, and instruction from God that disrupted the course of my life and not having much detail, the last thing I wanted to feel was silence from God.
As believers, we know that when it feels like God is silent, it’s usually because we need to go back to the last thing He said and obey Him from there. Honestly, I don’t like it. I know exactly what He said last. My problem is that I have questions, comments, and concerns about what He said. If I can be honest, I don’t always feel prepared or like I have what I need for some of the things I’m walking into. Is this a safe space, friend?
We see throughout the Bible how necessary preparation is. When God gives you a word or instructions for the future, the wise thing to do is prepare, whether you understand or not. I’ve tried my best to prepare for what I know is coming, but there have been moments on this journey where I’ve felt completely blindsided by some of the things that unfolded while following God, which is why I had questions, comments, and concerns in the first place. Yes, I elevated my voice a little when I said that. This is a safe space, remember?
This is how the children of Israel must have felt as God’s plan unfolded before they crossed the Red Sea in Exodus 14. God told Moses to tell the Israelites to go back and encamp in front of Pi-hahiroth between Migdol and the sea. While they were there, God would harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though he would go after them, God would ultimately get the glory over Pharaoh. So here you have the children of Israel in front of this sea, and Pharaoh and his army coming after them. They begin to cry out because what else will they do in a situation like that? I’m sure crossing the Red Sea was probably the last thing on their minds because, logically speaking, the only way to cross a sea during that time would have been in a boat.
God told Moses to tell the people to go forward and instructed him to raise his staff, stretch out his hand over the sea, and divide it so they could cross on dry ground. When Moses did as the Lord instructed, God drove the sea back with a strong wind all night that caused the waters to divide, and eventually, they were able to cross on dry ground and escape the Egyptians.
From this, God revealed two things to me:
Obey even when you don’t have all the details!
You may not get all the details at once, but as you obey God’s instructions, you’ll begin to see His plan unfold in your life, and He'll even reveal more to you. Don’t let your lack of information keep you from moving forward in what God tells you to do. What if the Children of Israel hadn’t turned back and encamped in front of the sea? They wouldn’t have been in a position for God to do a miraculous thing that is still discussed today.
Use what God gave you!
It may not have seemed like it, but the children of Israel had what they needed in that moment to cross the Red Sea. They cried out in fear because it seemed like they didn’t have a way forward, but what was in Moses’ hand and the power of God that would work through him was enough to divide the waters and make a way through.
The same applies to our lives and the things God tells us to move forward in. Whether that’s moving to a new city, starting a new job, starting a business, creating wealth, or starting a family, you have what you need! When God shows you what those things are, will you shrink back and doubt what He’s given you, or will you be like Moses and use what’s in your hands and allow His power to work through you?
We may be looking for practical things, tools, and resources, but what if God wants to do the miraculous?
God wouldn’t call you out of somewhere and onto something if He didn’t give you what you needed to do so. Rest, knowing you have what you need precisely when you need it.
