Dear Friend,
We’re just 20 short days away from 2025, so let me ask you a serious question: Where is your expectation?
I know this year may have sucker-punched you. Maybe you thought things would look different by now. But let me remind you: this is no time to feel sorry for yourself.
Contrary to popular belief, this is your moment to walk in authority.
When we hear the call to be Christ-like, the conversation often focuses on showing His love or exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit. And while these are noble and necessary goals, we rarely—if ever—hear about walking in authority as a characteristic of Christ.
But what if I told you that authority is one of the most overlooked aspects of Christ’s identity?
In the New Testament, Jesus performed what we—and the writers of the text—classify as miracles, signs, and wonders. Of course, those who witnessed and experienced His works were right to marvel.
But here’s the thing: Jesus didn’t see His acts as miracles.
Look closely at John 14:12:“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.”
Do you see it? Jesus calls His gestures “works.” Not miracles. Not the extraordinary. He refers to them as works and even declares that we have the capacity to do greater.
So how do we get there? How do we move from marveling at the miraculous to doing the works ourselves?
Authority.
The reason Jesus classified His acts as works instead of miracles is rooted in Kingdom authority. In the Kingdom, authority is the standard. It’s normal.
Jesus was showing us the power we’ve had all along.
When He restored our Kingdom power, He gave us permission to do what He did—and more—because it’s our inheritance as sons and daughters of God.
So if you’re aspiring to be more Christ-like, let me challenge you to add authority to your list.
Indeed, walking in authority is not about arrogance or control; it’s about fully stepping into the inheritance that Jesus died to restore to us. Yet, for many, this remains the most overlooked aspect of Christ’s nature.
Let’s change that.
As we approach 2025, ask yourself where your expectation lies. Let’s stop merely admiring the miraculous and start walking boldly in the authority that’s already ours.
Ready to walk in the power God designed for you?
Words and Authority is your guide to embracing your identity as a co-heir with Christ, using your words to shift atmospheres and create change, and moving from watching miracles to doing the works of Jesus.
It’s time to step into the authority that’s already yours.
