Steward Your Season Well

Updated: Jun 25

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens...(Ecclesiastes 3:1NIV).

There comes a time when even the good things— the deeply fulfilling, joy-bringing, purpose-packed things— must come to an end. I don’t know about you, but it sure seems like God is wrapping up matters fast. Projects are winding up. Assignments are finding their natural conclusion. Relationships are morphing. What worked in one season is now obsolete.

When the Holy Spirit Starts Tapping Your Shoulder

We must learn to recognize when a season is coming to an end. Just as the natural seasons shift with signals —a chill in the air, a change in the sky —spiritual seasons do the same. We’re rarely caught off guard.

Sometimes, it’s subtle- a quiet nudge in your spirit, an inner unrest that won’t be soothed by routine, or an uneasy and unsuccessful tug of war to try and make things work. Other times, it’s unmistakably loud; doors close, the ease of grace lifts, and deep down, you know that the season is up.

The world will tell you to hold on tighter. To push harder. But the Kingdom has a different rhythm. In God’s economy, letting go is sometimes the most fruitful thing you can do. Before we exit, the invitation is to steward your season well.

Four trees showing the seasons: spring blossoms, lush summer green, autumn with orange leaves, and bare winter branches.

As we wind down on this season of this blog, I am grateful. What began as a simple weekly challenge to grow as a writer slowly but surely transformed into something more profound. Under the Holy Spirit’s gentle guidance, this space became a sanctuary of reflection, stretching, and spiritual formation. I’ve learned that writing isn’t just about words; it’s a work of the soul.

Stewarding Means Finishing Faithfully

Stewarding a season well isn’t just about starting strong. It’s about finishing with intention. It means:

  • Passing the exam: Learn the lesson so you don’t have to repeat the season.

  • Gathering the goodies: Collect every nugget of wisdom, healing, and grace God tucked into it.

  • Nurturing the moments: Stay fully present, even when you sense it’s ending.

  • Finishing strong: Don’t rush to the next thing. Let each chapter have its full effect.

A Personal Reflection

I could tell you how I’ve grown as a writer in this season; how I found my voice not through striving, but surrender. As I let the Holy Spirit guide each post, I often found that what I wrote wasn’t just for others. It ministered to me first.

I could tell you how I upskilled;not through a course or program, but by simply saying “yes” to the invitation to shape this blog. That “yes” stretched and expanded me.

I could also tell you how I watched my fellow writers grow; sitting with their stories and editing their posts. What a gift to witness them share their journeys through the blog.

Now that this phase is ending, I’m glad I stayed the course. I didn’t exit prematurely. I gave it my all. I honored the season. And I completed the assignment.

For You, Dear Friend

If you sense God shifting things in your life, don’t panic. Pause. Listen. Lean in.

Ask Him:Lord, what are You teaching me here? What can I carry with me from this season into the next?

Steward your season. Don’t rush it. Don’t resent it. Walk with Him through it, because the same God who ushered you in will lead you through and carry you out.
