You Aren't Fighting Against Flesh and Blood

The devil is not here to play with us. He wants us DEAD!

I don’t think we truly understand how hateful the devil is (spoiler alert: you have the victory). But just think… how many times does something go wrong in your day, and you passively think, “That ain’t nothing but the devil!” Yet, we continue with our day. Let me tell you something: it WAS him! What you experienced was him trying to steal from you, kill you, and/or destroy you (John 10:10).

I am going to be transparent here and share 2 of my Let There Be Declarations:

(1) Let there be immediate restoration and reconciliation in my marriage.

(2) Let there be 100,000 marriages saved through the sharing of my marital story. Because, as the Bible tells us, we overcome by the blood of the lamb (Jesus) and the word of our testimony (Revelation 12:11)

Notice that I am believing for help for myself in the first one, but also for help for 100,000 other marriages (which means bringing 200,000 people closer to Jesus)! The devil absolutely does not want that to happen. And because of it, I’m at war. And I’m sure you are also at war over some of the things you are interceding for.

Revelation 12 gives us a glimpse of what that war looks like in the spirit realm. There is a story of a woman who is in the throes of giving birth.

Think about how we are in the throes of birthing our vision/ministry.

And here comes the devil. Not a little devil, but a huge red dragon with seven heads, ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. This type of devil stood before the woman in Revelation, ready to devour her child as soon as it was born. Notice the story doesn’t say he tried to kill the woman during a weak point (labor), but he lies in wait for the baby who has a purpose on his life. As soon as she birthed this child (her vision/ministry), God took it to protect it.

Do you feel like God has taken something away from you? It was for your protection.

He then sent the woman to be protected and nourished in a place He prepared for her.

He didn’t just take the “thing” away to protect it. He’s also protecting you. You have no idea how what you are birthing is going to heal the world.

Then the war broke out. The angels in Heaven fought Satan with everything they had and won. He was cast out of Heaven, but as soon as he got down to earth, he went straight for the woman and started another war.

Imagine this: You think you’ve beat this thing, but now it’s back in a different way.

When he came after her this time, God gave her wings to fly away and be nourished in the wilderness, where she would be cared for and protected from the dragon for a time, times, and half a time (Revelation 12:14).

For those in a wilderness season, God has prepared a place for you to be nourished for as long as it takes.

So the serpent sent a flood to drown her, but it was swallowed up. Then he declared war with the rest of her children- all who keep God’s commandments and maintain their testimony for Jesus.

Go read the chapter for yourself. It’s heavy! The woman was in her most vulnerable state when the devil came to attack her. There was nothing she could do by herself to protect herself. So God protected her. He sent her to a place to be nourished and took the seed from her to care for it in a way that she couldn’t. This story proves that we don’t fight against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, and rulers in the kingdom of darkness (Ephesians 6:12).

So yes, we have the victory, but don’t allow that to make you complacent. You are fighting against some things that are trying to destroy you. When you are depleted and at your most vulnerable, lean on God. He promises to give us an abundant life (John 10:10). He will nourish you, fight for you, and protect your seed. You got this!
