Dear Friend,
Welcome to February! We’ve officially entered the month where all your excuses have run out. Of course, I say this with love, but I also say it because it’s true. With everything happening in the world, it’s clear that we’ve stepped into a new season, which demands new clarity and strategy.
Pay attention now because things are about to move quickly.
Get a Mentor
If I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again: get a mentor.
You might be thinking, "Briana, I can’t afford a mentor right now,” but notice—I never said anything about money. Unfortunately, that’s where our minds immediately go when we feel like our backs are against the wall. And trust me, I get it. My back has been against the wall for several months now, but that still doesn’t change my need for a mentor.
So, how can you get a mentor for free?
Read the Bible.
The Bible is filled with individuals who have been exactly where you are and have successfully moved beyond it. Their stories aren’t just there to inspire you—they’re there to give you a strategic roadmap. If you pay close enough attention, you’ll realize that the strategy you need has been right beneath the surface of the stories you quickly gloss over.
For example, Abraham has been my mentor for years because his story speaks to the pioneer’s plight and struggles. Being the first to do anything is traumatizing. Following God can be heartbreaking.
And while Abraham didn’t get everything right, his life teaches us valuable lessons about tolerance, longevity, and pressing forward despite the struggle.
Don’t Hop on the Bandwagon—Make Sure You Have Enough Information
If you’re a believer, you’re probably familiar with Joseph’s story. We often hear people say that Joseph went “from the pit to the palace,” but that’s not true.
Joseph’s journey wasn’t an overnight success story—it was one of incremental progression.
Here’s what I mean:
When Joseph was sold by his brothers, he was an employee in the family business.
When he was sold into Potiphar’s house, he became an estate manager.
From there, he was sent to prison, where he became an overseer of a regional jail.
After that, he became second-in-command to Pharaoh, where he implemented a strategic plan to ensure that the palace would always have more than enough.
Sounds good, right? Of course—especially if you have 13 years to invest.
Most people don’t realize that Joseph was about 17 years old when he was sold into slavery (Genesis 37:2). When he finally assumed his position as second-in-command to Pharaoh, he was 30 (Genesis 41:46).
That means it took 13 years for Joseph to go from slavery to ruling over Egypt.
Do you have 13 years, or do you need something to change now?
Reject the Old Ways and Make Supernaturally Informed Decisions
If you’re not looking for a 13-year return on investment, you might want to consider Isaac instead.
We all know that Isaac’s father was Abraham. And if you read closely, you’ll see they had similar experiences. But while they both faced famines, they needed different strategies.
Here’s what I mean:
When Abraham experienced famine, he went to Egypt and thrived (Genesis 12:10-20). Yes, we can nitpick about his deception of Pharaoh, but the fact remains—he left Egypt wealthy. Genesis 13:2 confirms it:
“Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold."
Things worked out for his good. However, when we get to Isaac’s story in Genesis 26, we see that God gives him different instructions:
"The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, ‘Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live.’" (Genesis 26:2)
In other words, his father’s strategy wouldn’t work for him. Isaac had to reject his father’s wisdom in favor of God’s instruction. And because he obeyed, he prospered—but not in Egypt.
Instead, God led him to Gerar, and that’s where he thrived.
The Hundredfold Return—A Lesson in Supernatural Strategy
Genesis 26:12 tells us:
“Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the Lord blessed him.”
Notice the “hundredfold” part. Because Isaac followed God’s specific strategy, his return was 100 times his initial investment—in the same year.
Let’s break that down:
If Isaac sowed $500, he reaped $50,000.
If he sowed $1,000, he reaped $100,000.
If he sowed $100,000, he reaped 10 million.
We don’t know precisely how much Isaac sowed, and honestly? It doesn’t matter. What matters is the ROI. What matters is that he received it in the same year.
You Need Season-Specific Strategy
Unlike Joseph, whose prosperity was progressive, God shortened the time for Isaac. Why?
Because Isaac didn’t have the luxury of time that Joseph had. While Joseph was planning for a crisis that hadn’t happened yet, Isaac was in the middle of an economic crisis and needed immediate provision.
And that’s where we are right now. We don’t have the luxury of time to “get ready.” We had arguably five years to do that.
Essentially, you can’t afford to be asking God for the Joseph process when you need a supernatural strategy for this year. Since we know that the season has shifted, what worked for someone else may not work for you. This is the time to seek God’s specific strategy for your life, implement it with precision, and expect a supernatural return on your obedience.
Friend, time is of the essence, and knowing this is why some people prosper and others don't.
This is not the season to wait, hope, or guess. This is the season to move, execute, and trust God’s instructions even when they don’t make sense.
So, if you take anything away from this, let it be this:
Obedience accelerates time.
Strategy will save you years.
And when God is involved, one year can change everything.
You CAN prosper in crisis if you decide to. I hope you decide to.
