I wasn't always sure of myself, and I operated like that for majority of my life
People are generally shocked to hear that I struggled greatly with insecurity and self-doubt. Primarily it's because they see where I am now, but they have no idea of what it took for me to become the woman who is writing to you today.
Only seven short years ago, I decided to do my work to overcome some of the deep-seated insecurities that haunted me. At the time, I was tired of running from my familial history...I was tired of running from myself...I was tired of running from who God created me to be.

While I was tired of everything I just mentioned, I was also wildly afraid. I was scared of the darkness that was ahead of me. I'm not talking about spiritual darkness; I'm talking about the unknown of following God.
What's out there?
What if I don't get what I want?
What if I make a mistake?
Will this work out for me?
Will they talk about me?
I gave God my "yes" because I was afraid of what I would become if I didn't. I was scared of myself, and I knew the insecurities that made me a people-pleaser could steal my future.
As a recovering people-pleaser, I'll be the first to admit that I was afraid of what people might say about me. At the time, I was 27 and had lived most of my life seeking the validation of people around me. Operating like that stole a lot from me, much more than I like to admit.
So while I'm smiling in the picture, I wasn't happy.
My internal life was crumbling.
I was drowning.
I had to surrender.
I surrendered and that was the best decision of my life.
