How to Write Decrees That Actually Produce Results

Updated: Nov 20, 2025

One of the reasons many decrees feel scattered or ineffective is not because believers lack faith, but because our words lack order. For instance, Genesis 1 shows us that God did not decree randomly, but that His commands were structured, intentional, and sequential. Therefore, every “Let there be” built the environment for what would come next, and this is the same pattern you will follow when writing your forty decrees.

Keep in mind: Your decrees should not be emotional reactions but architectural instructions. They will begin with “Let there be…”, name the outcome you are releasing, and anchor it with “according to…”, followed by scriptural law. Over time, I've learned that this format ensures your words carry clarity, legality, and alignment with Heaven’s order.

Ultimately, since Genesis 1 unfolds in a divine sequence, your decrees will do the same. Below is the structure for all forty decrees, written in movements of five to mirror the rhythm of God’s creation.

Decrees 1–5: Light and Revelation (Genesis 1:3)

These first decrees release illumination, understanding, and clarity.

You cannot decree effectively until you can see.

Focus: insight, direction, discernment, wisdom, inner clarity.

Decrees 6–10: Alignment and Boundaries (Genesis 1:6–8)

Once light comes, order follows.

These decrees establish separation from confusion, emotional stability, internal alignment, and spiritual boundaries.

Focus: alignment, stability, clear division, spiritual grounding.

Decrees 11–15: Resources and Provision (Genesis 1:9–13)

After order is established, hidden resources are called forth.

These decrees address financial provision, opportunities, strategy, and partnerships.

Focus: provision, resources, prepared environments, divine supply.

Decrees 16–20: Time and Seasons (Genesis 1:14–19)

These decrees assign timing, cycles, rhythm, and divine appointments.

Focus: timing, decision-making, cycles, seasons, rhythm.

Decrees 21–25: Multiplication and Movement (Genesis 1:20–23)

After timing is set, movement can begin.

These decrees release increase, expansion, momentum, and fruitful outcomes.

Focus: growth, progress, expansion, multiplication.

Decrees 26–30: Establishment and Function (Genesis 1:24–25)

These decrees anchor purpose, stability, maturity, and full operation.

Focus: purpose, productivity, structure, establishment.

Decrees 31–35: Authority and Dominion (Genesis 1:26–28)

Only after the environment is built do you decree rulership.

These decrees speak to mastery, governance, decision-making, and spiritual authority.

Focus: dominion, rulership, leadership, mastery.

Decrees 36–40: Rest and Completion (Genesis 2:1–3)

The final decrees release rest, closure, peace, and fulfillment.

Rest is the proof of alignment.

Focus: peace, divine completion, fulfillment, wholeness.

How to Write Each Decree

Every decree follows this simple formula:

1. Begin with:“Let there be…”This mirrors God’s creative release.

2. State the decree:The outcome you are commanding into order.

3. Anchor it with:“According to…”Then insert your scriptural legal support.

4. Be sure to also recite the scripture.

Example:“Let there be clarity in my decisions today, according to Psalm 119:105, Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path..”

This structure ensures your words are not just spoken but legislated.

In closing, our forty decrees are not isolated statements; they are a system. As you can see, they build like Genesis 1 builds, which is one realm unlocking the next, one command preparing the environment for the following one. So when you decree in order, you partner with the pattern God used to shape the world, and your words begin to carry the same rhythm, weight, and authority.

P.S. Just in case you need another example.
