Dear Friend,
The Bible tells us that the new inhabitants of Babylon not only wanted to build a city with a tower for security, but everyone wanted to make a name for themselves. My caution to you is to beware of hive mind because that's how you will create a destruction-proof life this year.
"They said to each other, 'Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.'”-Genesis 11:4
What is hive mind?
A hive mind refers to a collective consciousness or shared intelligence among a group of individuals, often depicted in science fiction. In a hive mind, members of the group share thoughts, emotions, and information instantaneously, leading to a unified and coordinated decision-making process. This concept is reminiscent of social organisms like ants or bees, where individuals work together seamlessly for the benefit of the entire group.
On the surface, nothing is wrong with being on one accord, surrounded by people who think and believe like you. In fact, several scriptures in the Bible point towards the importance of unity. And while all of that is fine and dandy, it becomes problematic when the entire group is wrong
Here’s what I mean: God promised Noah that He would never destroy the earth by water again. In Genesis 9:1, He also told Noah and his sons to spread out and repopulate the earth: “Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.” When the entire group decides to build a tower, the entire hive stands in opposition to God. They say, “No, we will not scatter and repopulate.”
Not only did they decide to stand in opposition to God, but they desired to build the tower to reach the heavens, which means they endeavored to intervene in heavenly matters. They wanted to deify themselves, which is implicit in their desire to make a name for themselves so they would be God’s equal, of sorts.
We see here that the entire group was in error. Yes, they were unified, but they were wrong. Yes, there’s power in numbers, but they were also a destructive force.
This season, we must not get caught up in what the masses are doing. Remember, I’m not talking about what the world is doing, either. I’m talking about Christian cliques and denominations here. Just because everyone is doing or saying it doesn’t mean it’s right.
Not only is God inspecting fruit and the structures we are building this year, but He’s inspecting the community. Who you surround yourself with in this season matters. Who you listen to matters. Don’t get caught up in what your favorite Christian influencer or worship leader is saying, even if it aligns with the crowd, because we see what happens when the crowd agrees on the wrong thing.
So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel[c]—because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth. -Genesis 11:8-9
I say this to say that the communities that have misled and manipulated people for years, though successful, will meet destruction this year, and it will be God’s judgment. We should not rejoice in this. We must not continue to be blind. We can’t afford to turn a deaf ear to the wrongs committed in our communities, both church and otherwise. You must develop the courage to seek God for yourself and obey Him into destiny.
Don’t let hive mind delay and destroy you. God has already designed a destruction-proof life for you as long as you stay aligned.
