Cross Over The Jordan

After Moses' death, the Lord told Joshua that it was time to lead the children of Israel over the River Jordan so that they could enter the promised land (Joshua 1:1-2).

As we get into the final stages of this year's Passover, the Word of the Lord to you at this moment is, “Time’s up in that former/old position/season!The former/old position/season doesn't exist anymore. It's dead and buried where you can't find it (Deuteronomy 34:5-6).

Just like the Israelites wandered in the wilderness for 40 years and the promised land seemed like a myth- for a long time, you too have contended, tarried in the place of prayer and fasted for your shift. NOW is the set time for you to shift positions/ seasons and enter into your promised land.

When the Israelites first left Egypt for the promised land, the Egyptians pursued and caught up with them beside the shore near Pi-hahiroth across from Baal-zephon. Their only way out was to cross over the Red Sea. They panicked and complained to Moses, because it appeared they were backed up into an impossible corner (Exodus 14:9-14). Moses in turn cried out to the Lord who delivered them (Exodus 14:15-30)

The second time around when the Israelites had to cross over a body of water, the Lord had a ‘briefing’ session with Joshua their leader before He commissioned him to head out for the

promised land (Joshua 1:3-9)

Just like Joshua, the Lord has already given you your marching orders. He has deposited within you everything that you'll need for the journey ahead. Having done His part, yours is to muster up the audacity to cross over your equivalent of the River Jordan without second guessing yourself or hesitating (2 Timothy 1:7).

One of the instructions that Joshua gave the Israelites before they crossed the river Jordan was to consecrate themselves (Joshua 3:5). The Hebrew word for consecrate is qāḏaš which means to prepare oneself. You've been in position, waiting to cross over and the time has finally come. Think it not strange that during this period of Passover there will be a purging or purification taking place (if it hasn't already began) just before the Lord does great wonders before you.

If you haven't already, take time to seek the Lord's face concerning areas He needs to trim the fat off and circumcise you. You can't enter your promised land with dead weight from the old season. Humble yourself and hearken quickly to the Lord’s chastisement - otherwise you will miss it. Besides, He chastens His sons and daughters from a place of love (Hebrews 12:6-11).

Lastly, step forward in faith and begin to cross over the Jordan (Deuteronomy 31:6, Joshua 1:5, Hebrews 4:16). Inquire of the Holy Spirit what your step of faith looks like and take it quickly. The Lord must see that the soles of your feet have touched the waters of the river for Him to move His mighty hand and part the waters (Joshua 3:14-15).

Interestingly, the Lord isn't asking you to walk a mile in the river before He shows up and out. All it takes is mustard seed faith and suddenly Jesus Himself, the Way Maker, will show up as The Way (John 14:6) and you’ll move from dreaming about your promised land to walking in it, living in it, driving it, owning it, marriage- whatever your promised land is. .
