Crash Out vs. Praise

The term crash out is funny because it accurately describes what happens when we allow our thoughts to ride unchecked down the highway of negativity. We are certain to spin out of control and crash out. Sometimes we realize it and course correct, but other times we’ve gone too far and can’t stop ourselves before saying or doing something we regret. There is a popular song that helps me through these times. It’s called Surrounded. The lyrics say, “This is how I fight my battles”. I used to envision fighting my battles on my knees, in my prayer closet. But this week, God reminded me that I also fight my battles with PRAISE.
In Psalm 92:4-5, David tells God, “For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord. I sing for joy at what your hands have done. How great are your works, Lord. How profound your thoughts”.
Actually, if you read all of the Psalms, you'll see just how much David used praise as a weapon.
And in Isaiah 55:8-9, God himself reminds us that His thoughts are not our thoughts, nor are His ways our ways. As the heavens are higher than the Earth, so are His ways higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts.
It’s so comforting to know this when my thoughts spiral: God is rational, intentional, and does not crash out. He has promised us that he will work out all things for our good (Romans 8:28) and His ways are much higher than ours. So, start thanking God for turning things around in your favor. Thank Him that it is already done - even as you wait for the physical manifestation of the thing.
