You Are The One

Updated: Sep 27, 2023

I’m sure most of us continually pray over our families, particularly for restoration from the effects of decades of negative generational cycles.

There’s no doubt also that many of us have personally been through seasons of pain or have witnessed first-hand the destructive trail left as the enemy manifests in the form of repeated divorce patterns, adultery, dysfunction, infirmity, poverty, and so on.

I’m also confident that many of us have heard the call of the Lord to step in and intercede on behalf of our families, lineages, and bloodlines.

Today, I’d like to encourage you that there is great purpose in these painful seasons and experiences. I got the revelation that soberly examining these repetitive cycles exposes where the enemy has his tentacles wrapped tightly around our families and bloodlines.

The Holy Spirit impressed upon me that in every generation, God stirs up someone who’ll take on the responsibility to rebuild the desolations of generations past and the ancient ruins.

Then they will rebuild the ancient ruins, they will raise up and restore the former desolations; and they will renew the ruined cities, the desolations (deserted settlements) of many generations (Isaiah 61:4 AMPC)

If we’re willing to walk with the Father, God is well able to heal generational trauma through the process of healing that He submits us to. As you yield and commit to doing the work, you’re elevated to the position of the one who sets a new pattern of generational blessing in motion. As He strips us down, God can then begin to reveal those things that need to be worked on.

To start, I sense the call to repent on behalf of our families, ancestors, and bloodlines for:

Ignorance: The Bible says that God’s people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6), and the Amplified version further qualifies this as a lack of understanding of God’s Law, where He reveals His Will. Ignorance of God’s Will may have or may still be plaguing many of our families, leading us directly to being rejected by God and Him also forgetting our children (Hosea 4:6b)

Sin and waywardness: The Bible is full of accounts where the Israelites were punished for their disobedience. One of the most chilling generational effects of disobedience is found in Exodus 20:4-5 where the Bible shows that God visits the iniquity (sin and guilt) of the fathers on the children to the 3rd and 4th generations of those who hate Him.

Arrogance, selfishness, and carelessness concerning the generations: King Hezekiah’s attitude, as revealed in 2 Kings 20:16-19, with emphasis on verse 19, is very telling. His remark that ‘is it not good, if at least, there will be peace and security in my lifetime?’- even after a warning through Isaiah (that everything in his house and that which his fathers had stored up until that day, would be carried off to Babylon, and some of his descendants would be taken away as captives and become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon), shows a selfish and unconcerned stance towards his descendants. Those coming after us are an inheritance that has to be nurtured, stewarded, and looked after.

We can all borrow from this powerful prayer of repentance in Nehemiah 1:5-9

6 listen to my prayer! Look down and see me praying night and day for your people Israel. I confess that we have sinned against you. Yes, even my own family and I have sinned!
7 We have sinned terribly by not obeying the commands, decrees, and regulations that you gave us through your servant Moses.
8 “Please remember what you told your servant Moses: ‘If you are unfaithful to me, I will scatter you among the nations.
9 But if you return to me and obey my commands and live by them, then even if you are exiled to the ends of the earth, I will bring you back to the place I have chosen for my name to be honored.’

Cycles and patterns can be broken. It just takes one individual who will fully submit to the Will of God. One person is all God needs to lead the bloodline differently and turn things around.

I pray that one person is YOU- the one who hears and answers the call on your bloodline’s behalf.
